Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau will soon authorize Shanghai Free Trade Zone to pilot a new clearance mode which allows vehicles that are imported in a small number for special purposes or reasons to be released first with the China Compulsory Certification submitted later. This will further streamline the importing process and reduce the importing costs.

The new clearance mode will also apply to imported motorbikes imported in small batches that do not acquire the CCC certificate, which is a beneficial complementary policy to motorbike imports.
In January 2017, Certification and Accreditation Administration of China released the Individual Vehicle Approval clearance method on special purpose vehicles, and motor vehicles that are produced or imported in small batches, so that the vehicle inspection in production could be simplified.
Also, the IVA clearance method will be combined with the producer’s credential review and the producer’s self-declaration to secure the safety and quality of the imported vehicles.
