Shenzhen has 797 post offices and a developed telecommunications system. Shenzhen is the center for express mail on the southern mainland, with an efficient and comprehensive network reaching every household. Many local companies are engaged in fixed and mobile telephones and Internet services. The fixed telephone users numbered 4.901 million in 2013 and mobile users 25.535 million. The number of broadband users was 4.332 million in 2013, making the city not only a leader in national broadband business but also advanced by world standards. Shenzhen is now pushing several projects: construction of increased telecommunications infrastructure; trial integration of telecommunications networks, cable TV networks and the Internet; development of a wireless city; construction of an information consumption pilot city; and construction of a national next-generation Internet demonstration city. Efforts are being sped up to build an intelligent Shenzhen with new lifestyles, industrial structures and management modes.
