"Mainland approved notary public" is the equivalent of China-Appointed notary public in Hong Kong. This means that when Hong Kong residents deal with legal issues in Mainland China they need a notary certificate issued by a China-Appointed notary public, in addition being sealed and delivered by the China Legal Services (H.K.) Limited. This procedure is carried out due to the differences in Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese legal systems. The laws, procedures and validity of notarization are different between the two places, that is why special legal arrangements were made. The main purpose is to ensure the authenticity and legality of Hong Kong documents being used in Mainland China.
