Huizhou Investment Environment Introduction
Located at the northeastern tip of the Pearl River Delta (PRD) in southeastern Guangdong facing Daya Bay to the south and lying some 70 km from Hong Kong, Huizhou is the mainland city closest to the SAR after Shenzhen. As early as in 1992, Huizhou already ranked among "China's 40 best investment locations". In 1995, it was among the top 10 mainland cities rated by foreign investors as the most suitable for investment. Huizhou has become a magnet for foreign investment.

According to the Chinese Cities' Competitiveness Study 2003, Huizhou ranks 25th in the country in terms of overall competitiveness. It is pointed out in the study report that Huizhou has an excellent geographic location providing enormous opportunity for development. The presence of numerous renowned enterprises and outward-looking economy offers a solid foundation for further development. The recent establishment of the Nanhai Petrochemical project, the largest joint venture of its kind in China, in Huizhou is a testimony to the city's growing competitiveness.
Huizhou Leading Manufacturing Base
Huizhou has become one of the fastest growing, most vibrant and promising markets in southern China. As one of the three leading bases for the electronic information industry in the PRD, it is among the first batch of mainland cities designated as "National Electronic Information Industry Base". Electronic information is the largest pillar industry of Huizhou. In 2003, the output value of the city's electronic information industry amounted to Rmb76.8 billion, accounting for 55.3% of the city's total industrial output value.
There are over 1,000 electronic information enterprises in Huizhou, with a number of conglomerates as the core and well supported by a cluster of small and medium enterprises forming a complete industrial chain extending from technology development and raw materials processing to end products manufacturing. TCL, Desay, Foryou and Chosen in the city rank among the country's top 25 enterprises in the electronic information industry. Many of the "made in Huizhou" electronic products are market leaders at home, in Asia and the world. Huizhou is one of the world's largest producers of battery and laser head; one of Asia's largest producers of telephone and computer motherboard; and one of China's largest producers of television, car audio, high-end electrical products and camera.
In 2003, the city produced 8.036 million telephones, 7.268 million colour TVs, 3.002 million radios and 5.52 million micro computers. The figures represent 53.8%, 66.1%, 24%, 20.7% and 54.7% increases over the previous year respectively.
