China work permit, which can also be named as China working visa, is required for persons wanting to work in China for pay. It is also issued to aliens who come to China for commercial entertainment performance. It is only granted if you and the employer meet certain requirements. First, the organisation must be accredited to employ foreigners. You must meet the requirements as a 'foreign expert' and the employer must obtain a certificate stating that you comply.

Work permit required documents:
1) Photocopy of the inside back cover of the passport. That is the page which has the photo, the name, the passport number, the date and place of birth and all the other essential information.
2)A photocopy of the diploma. The Chinese Government demands that all foreign teachers to have a bachelor's degree or higher. The school needs only the photocopy of one diploma even if a teacher has several. If a teacher has already completed all the course work but the diploma cannot be obtained until a later date, an official letter from his/her school certifying that the teacher is fully qualified to obtain a bachelor's degree is sufficient.
3)A simple medical report. The teachers are required to go thru a thorough physical examination in a government approved hospital after they arrive in China no matter what kind of physical examination the teachers have prior to their arrival. Therefore, it is absolutely unnecessary for a teacher to spend a lot of money to have a thorough physical unless he/she wants to for his/her own personal use. For the purpose of getting the work permit, the school only needs a piece of paper with a letter head of doctor's name and on it, a simple signed statement by a doctor which says the the teacher is healthy enough to work in China.
4)Copy of the resume.
5)The employment contract. The teacher are advised to send the school all of the five documents required when he/she sends in his/her contract. However, if any of the above document is not available at the time when the signed contract is send, the missing document can be send in a later date.
Work permit Application Conditions:
The foreign experts to work in China should be issued with the "Work Permit of Foreign Experts to Work in China". The foreigners without the "Work Permit of Foreign Experts to Work in China" should not be employed with the identity of foreign experts. The foreign experts to apply to work in China should observe the Chinese regulations and rules, be healthy, have no criminal record, and conform to the conditions as follows:
(A) The foreign special technical or management people who are hired to work in China in line with the governmental, international organization agreements, pacts and Sino-foreign trade contracts.
(B) The foreign special people who are hired to work in the fields of education, scientific research, press, publication, cultures, art, public health, sports, etc. of China.
(C) The foreign senior special technical or management people who are hired to work at the companies in China at the posts of vice general manager and above, or with the similar treatment, etc.
(D) The foreign resident representatives in China of the overseas expert organizations or expert brokerage units approved by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.
(E) The foreign special technical or management people who have outstanding specialty and are hired urgently to work in the field of economy, technology, engineering, trade, finance, accounting, taxation, tourism, etc. of China
