For foreign investment manufacturing enterprises with over 10 years of operation period, the company income tax of first two profiting years can be exempted, and that of the third to the fifth year can be half exempted except for those belong to oil, natural gas, rare metals and noble metals resources exploration projects that are elsewhere specified by State Council. The foreign investment enterprises with operation period less than 10 years shall return exempted company income tax.
     

For those foreign investment enterprises engaged in agricultural, forestry and livestock industries and located in under-development remote areas, can apply for 15% to 30% of tax reduction to be approved by taxation administration department of State Council during the next ten years following the duly exemption and abatement periods.
For advanced technical enterprises set up by foreign investment can have two years of exemption and six years of 50% abatement of company income tax.
     

For export-oriented manufacturing enterprises, if exported products value accounts for 70% or above of output value of the year, can have 50% of company income tax abatement without actual time limit after the duly exemption and abatement periods.
     

Losses incurred in a tax year within the foreign investment enterprises and production sites or business operations set up in China by foreign enterprises may be made up by the income of the following tax year. Should the income of the following tax year be insufficient to make up for the said losses, the balance may be made up by its income of the further subsequent year, and so on, over a period not exceeding five years.
