Xiamen Transportation-Highway
Expressway and highway networks will be fully launched into construction so as to establish a “half-day transportation economic circle” on the western coast of Taiwan Straits and a “one-day transportation economic circle” that covers Jiangxi, Southwest Zhejiang, Northeast Guangdong and South Hunan.
The completed expressways that connect to Xiamen include: Shenyang – Haikou Expressway and Xiamen – Anxi Expressway. The expressways that are under construction include: Xiamen section of Xiamen – Chengdu Expressway
Xiamen Transportation-Railway
Yingtan – Xiamen Railway and Shanghai – Xiamen High Speed Rail and Longyan – Xiamen Railway have been launched into operation, shortening the distance between Xiamen and Shanghai to 5 hours and that between Xiamen and Fuzhou to 1.5 hours.
Xiamen – Shenzhen Railway is expected to be completed and launched into operation at the end of 2013. By then, it is going to take three hours by train from Xiamen to Shenzhen.
The Ningde – Fuzhou – Xiamen – Zhangzhou passenger line with an hourly speed of 350 kilometers and Xiamen – Zhangzhou – Quanzhou intercity rail transit system are being planned.
Xiamen Transportation-Sea Port
According to the Master Plan of Port of Xiamen as approved by the Ministry of Transport, Port of Xiamen is positioned as a shipping and logistics center on the western coast of Taiwan Straits, a key national hub port, a container hub port and one of the main coastal ports of China.
In 2012, Xiamen Port had an annual cargo throughput of 172 million tons, ranking the 13th in China and the 1st in Fujian Province. In 2012, Xiamen Port had an annual container throughput of 7.2017 million TEU, ranking the 7th in China and the 18th in the world.
The Xiamen – Jinmen shipping line has an annual passenger throughput of 1,367,500 person-times.
Xiamen Transportation-Airport
So far, Xiamen Airport has launched 131 air routes into operation, 20 foreign (regional) airline companies have been operating in Xiamen Airport and 22 international cities (including Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei and Gaoxiong) has been opened to navigation.
