The China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone is officially launched on 29 September 2013. And on 20 April 2015, the State Council released framework plans for the Guangdong, Tianjin and Fujian Pilot Free Trade Zones. The Pilot Free Trade Zones (“Pilot FTZs”) pioneer an unprecedented degree of openness in relation to foreign investment and international trade in both goods and services, with the objective of promoting and leading the development of an open Chinese economy.
Shanghai Free-Trade Zone , officially China (Shanghai) Pilot Free-Trade Zone ,is a free-trade zone in Shanghai, China. Shanghai FTZ is the first free-trade zone in China, the State Council approved the establishment of SFTZ. Officially launched on September 29, 2013 with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang
The zone covers an area of 120.72 square kilometres (46.61 sq mi)[1] and integrates four existing bonded zones in the district of Pudong — Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, Waigaoqiao Free Trade Logistics Park, Yangshan Free Trade Port Area and Pudong Airport Comprehensive Free Trade Zone. Since April 21, 2015, Shanghai FTZ's areas are expanded, including Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone, Shanghai Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone (former Jinqiao Export Processing Zone) and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park
Foreign Investment in Shanghai Free Trade Zone
The Zone introduces a number of reforms designed to create a preferential environment for foreign investment. including medical services, value-added telecommunications, ocean freight & international ship management and banking. Another important feature of the zone is found in its "negative list" approach to foreign investment, which is permitted in all sectors unless explicitly prohibited by the inclusion of a given sector on the Negative List published by the Shanghai Municipal Government.
