Open Borders Entry Policy Issued by Chinese Government for the New Year

China issued new open entry policy for the new year.

In the last few days of 2022, a great news that China issued new open entry policy that China will no longer conduct nucleic acid tests and centralized quarantine for all inbound travelers, and measures to control the number of international passenger flights will be lifted, among others in 2023.


With the approval of the Chinese State Council, the preventive and control measures for novel coronavirus infection under Class A infectious diseases under the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases will be lifted from 8 January 2023 and novel coronavirus infection will no longer be included in the management of quarantine infectious diseases under the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Health and Quarantine of the State Border. And new entry policy will be implemented from 8 January 2023.

 

No longer impose quarantine measures on COVID-19 infections;
No longer identify close contacts of COVID-19 infections;
No longer delineate high and low-risk areas;
Provide classified treatment for COVID-19 patients and adjust medical insurance policies;
Adjust PCR tests to voluntary testing;
Adjust the frequency and content of epidemic information release; and
Take NO quarantinable infectious disease control measures against entry persons and goods.

Passengers will only required to test nucleic acid 48 hours prior to arrival in China. Those with negative nucleic acid results can come to China without applying for a health code from the Chinese Embassy or Consulate General abroad to enter the results into the Customs Health Declaration Card. If the nucleic acid result is positive, the person concerned should come back to China after the result has turned negative.

 

China will further optimize arrangements for foreigners returning to China for work resumption, business, study, family visits, and reunions, and provide visa facilities accordingly.
The entry and exit of passenger transport by water and land ports will be gradually resumed.
China will resume outbound tourism in an orderly manner in light of the international epidemic situation and the service support capacity of all sectors.
