If you stay in China at the moment, you need understand what status of your visa and how to extend the China visa. Here are a list of frequently asked questions lately regarding visa extension for your reference.
Q1.Who is applicable to the automatic visa extension for 2 months?
The 2-month automatic extension policy is applicable to foreigners who are living in the Chinese mainland with valid Chinese visas or residence permits during the pandemic period.
However, our recommendation is to update your visas or residence permits before the original expiry date.
The reason for that is there are more international flights for foreigners, which will allow you to fly back to your home country. Besides, even if the 2-month automatic extension policy still takes effect, take Shanghai as an example, foreigners need to take their own risk to visit overstay office before they could successfully update their Chinese visa or residence permit.
Q2.If I cannot go back to my country due to the epidemic, can I apply for the humanitarian visa once a month?
It is necessary for you to prove that there is no flight ticket to return to your home country next month, while it will not be acceptable if there are no tickets to your home city but there are tickets to other cities. (in this situation, it means you are able to back to your country by landing in other cities).
Q3.Are there other ways to apply for a stay visa?
You can apply for a stay visa by providing materials proving your work visa is being processed or proof of business registration in process.
Q4.I'm holding a short-term visa, (eg: business visa, tourist visa, and other non-residence permit visas) while those kinds of visa cannot be extended, what should I do?
Depending on the circumstances, you can apply for a work visa after finding a job in China. You can also register a company in China and apply for visa as a legal representative.
Q5.What if none of the above works?
You can also write a statement explaining your personal situation, and keep trying to extend the humanitarian visa.
Please note that the application success rate, in this case, will be lower than in other cases.
