Transportation Network
Dongguan is conveniently located near Hong Kong and Macau, and is between Guangzhou and Shenzhen, making efficient transportation essential. The city has nation-leading road density surrounding downtown Dongguan with highways and expressways as well as a green road network. Dongguan is also located near two international airports in Guangzhou and Shenzhen and is at the intersection of the Guangdong-Kowloon, Guangdong-Shenzhen, Guangdong-Meizhou-Shantou, and Beijing-Kowloon railways. Dongguan also owns two national level 1 ports in China, namely Humen Port and Dongguan Railway Port.

Dongguan is usually referred to as an industrial city, but many people who have visited remember a green Dongguan. In recent years, five main goals have been introduced and implemented, namely “clear water, blue skies, green fields, good for living, and green GDP,” which focus on boosting both economic development and environmental protection. Today, Dongguan has a forest cover rate of 36.7 percent and a greenery rate of 98.7 percent, making it a real international garden city.
